Membership

Becoming a member of NIMAC is probably the best decision you can make. It provides you with:

  • Access to wide networks within the industry;
  • Access to professional development opportunities;
  • Access to the best gerontological conference held annually in Queensland;
  • Access to mentoring;
  • Access to a quarterly newsletter chock full of articles and information about the latest reports, research and contemporary issues; and Peer support.

Can you afford not to be a member?

A NIMAC member can be any of the following :

  • Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
  • Care manager of an aged care facility
  • People providing care services, through consultancy or recruitment agencies, or those working in quality roles.
  • People providing products/services to the Aged Care industry.

Membership costs are outlined below and all memberships are valid from July 1st till June 30th of the following year.

  • New Membership - $90.00* (GST included)
    ^ this cost includes the Membership ($70) & Joining fee ($20) ^
  • Membership Renewal - $70.00* (GST included)

Members Guidelines 

Termination of Membership

The Executive Committee may, by unanimous decision only, cancel the membership of any members of the Association. If the person in question is a member of the Executive Committee his/her right to vote on this matter may be suspended.

(1)A member may resign from the Association at any time by giving notice in writing to the Secretary. Such resignation shall take effect at the time such notice is received by the Secretary unless a later date is specified in the notice when it shall take effect on that later date.

(2)If a member - (i)is convicted of an indictable offence; or (ii)fails to comply with any of the provisions of the Rules; or (iii)has membership fees in arrears for a period of two months or more; (iv)conducts him/herself in a manner considered to be injurious or prejudicial to the character or interests of the Association, the Management Committee shall consider whether his/her membership shall be terminated.

(3)The member concerned shall be given a full and fair opportunity of presenting his/her case, and if the Management Committee resolves to terminate his/her membership, it shall instruct the Secretary to advise the member in writing accordingly.

Subscriptions

Each member will be required to pay a joining fee plus the yearly subscription. The fees are established by the Executive Committee. Membership fees are determined by the Executive Committee and fees for the coming year will be announced at the Annual General Meeting.

Any member failing to pay their membership fee within sixty days is to be notified in writing that failure to pay membership fees within a further thirty days will result in cancellation of membership. Payment of a late fee will result when membership is renewed.

Voting

Only financial members will be eligible to vote at meetings. The financial year of the association will close on 30th June in each year.
